I can expect this statement to not all agree, but as a wedding photographer on Lake Como I find the similarity seductive, even if I have a little trouble imagining a stormy lake like this. What place could be so generous in giving enchantment in every glimpse of the landscape and doubling the beauty that is all around reflecting it as in a mirror in its calm waters? I think very few.
Beyond Como and Lecco, it is the villages and small towns overlooking the lake that offer fascinating and enchanting wedding locations on Lake Como almost without interruption. Lavedo, Varenna, Cernobbio, (real jewel nestled between the west bank and Monte Bisino) Bellagio. (The pearl of Como resting on a promontory that divides the two branches). In short, there is only the embarrassment of choice. And then the villas and historic residences that lend themselves to making reality a dream, becoming for one day your palace, the one where you can celebrate a fairytale wedding.
A few names … Villa Erba in Cernobbio, rich in frescoes, inlaid ceilings and rooms full of artistic furnishings. The famous dance scene in Visconti’s Il Gattopardo was filmed here. Its 100 square meters of park, the secular trees, the luxuriant multicolored gardens complete its beauty, even more appreciable if you look at it from the large atrium, the real heart of the villa. Villa Balbianello, historic building from 1787, located on the tip of the Lavedo peninsula on a promontory that takes its name from the villa. This villa has also served as a set for some Hollywood films, (The 2nd episode of Star Wars, for example or Martin Campbell’s Casino Royal).
Villa Balbiano, a mansion whose historic core dates back to the sixteenth century, located in Ossuccio. This is also very rich in Baroque frescoes, antique furniture and artistic objects and with an extensive park where palm trees, statues and fountains harmonize perfectly with fragrant shrubs and decorative plants. I hope that just having mentioned all the beauty that can be found on Lake Como, could have enticed you to choose it as your wedding location.
